For many people losing fat can be quite a difficult task. Perhaps you feel as if you've tried most things and they don't work. But you still have fat on your body that you don't like the look of and leaves you feeling unattractive.
I've found that the struggle to lose fat usually comes down to either one or both of these two things. One is that you hope a quick fix will work and are disappointed to find out that it didn't after you'd spent your money and tried it. Quick fixes like fad diets, pills or unusual ways of eating often only result in water and muscle loss from your body not fat. The other one is not having the right information that will finally help you to burn fat.
You need to see that you will have to put in some effort as there isn't a quick fix and you need to be doing the right things to burn your fat.
One of the first things is making sure that your metabolism is turned on every morning after a long night of fasting. The best way to do this is to eat a well-balanced, healthy meal in the morning. It might be tempting to skip breakfast but this will cause your body to continue to fast, decreasing your bodies metabolism. As boosting your metabolism increases the rate that your body burns fat, your breakfast can contribute to this.
You also need to be getting adequate exercise and one way to step up your fat burning is with a strength training routine. This training increases your muscle mass so your body will start to look toned and your body will burn up ore fat. Start out with some strength training that is perfect for your current fitness level. The you can add more difficult exercises to your routine as you improve.
You now have a couple of things that work to get started with and I encourage you to find out what else will help you to lose the fat that you've struggled with.

You try and fight the battle in your mind, and your emotions, but sooner or later, you will give in, and your body will adjust back to it's over weight position. No matter how hard you try, sooner or later your body will "bounce back" to 180 lbs, and often more. The only exception are those who are able to surpress negative thoughts and emotions...which in turn will turn up in other psycho-somatic "symptoms."
The only surefire way to lose weight permanently is to first change your "mindset" of the way you think and feel about food, and then to slowly shed the pounds.
I realize everyone wants to shed those 40 pounds over night. And, you can do that. But, the cost is too high. Your mind and emotions will negatively be effected...which will in turn hurt your relationships, even those you love the most.
Think long term. Go slow. One of the best courses on the market today is fatloss4idiots. This may interest you if you are serious about shedding the pounds permanently.

The South Beach Diet - Does it Really Work?
The South Beach Diet is another popular lower-carbohydrate diet. It was created by Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist from Miami Beach, Florida.
He felt like his patients needed a heart-healthy way to lose weight, and so he wrote his diet in the popular book, The South Beach Diet: The Delicious, Doctor-Designed Foolproof Plan for Fast and Healthy Weight Loss.
At first glance, the South Beach Diet looks surprisingly like the Atkins Diet. South Beach Dieters are not allowed to eat any carbohydrates for the two-week induction phase. They must only eat proteins for this period. Gradually, after induction is complete, they can reintroduce healthy carbohydrates into their diet, until they have reached a long-term diet that they maintain for a lifetime.
How is this different from the Atkins Diet? In the Atkins Diet, all fats are considered fine. The South Beach Diet bans unhealthy fats from its program. Also, instead of focusing on the number of grams of carbs consumed, the South Beach Diet focuses on the amount of sugar in the carbs that are consumed. This means that, after induction, more carbs are allowed than are allowed on the Atkins Diet.
On the South Beach Diet, you are allowed to eat when you are hungry. You are actually encouraged to eat small snacks throughout the day. You are supposed to eat until you are satisfied, and then stop. However, you will not able to eat foods that are rich in sugars, including corn and potatoes, which are not normally considered "banned" diet foods.
The first two weeks are the most difficult on this diet. Most people, especially Americans, are addicted to carbs. The induction phase removes all carbs from the diet, sending the body into a form of detox as it gets used to life without carbs. After surviving induction, the carb cravings are curbed, and most dieters are able to follow a healthy diet plan for the long term.
So does the diet work? Yes, it does, and because it focuses on healthy foods, it is a great diet to keep for the long term. You are allowed to eat all of the food groups on the South Beach Diet. You are simply taught how to do it in a healthy manner. Make sure you are willing to stay with the diet for the long term, however, as you will lose the benefits if you resume your normal eating habits.

LOSE WEIGHT BY JUST DRINKING WATER
It is true, weight loss can be achieved just be adding more water to your diet. Be clear, I am not advocating ONLY drinking water, or dehydrating the body to lose weight, okay? Not at all! First of all, when I say water, I mean WATER. Not diet soda or diet energy drinks, ok?
Water is the miracle weight loss drug that we've all been looking for. It's been right under our nose all this time. How is water a miracle for losing weight? Believe it or not, your body is made up of about 70% water. Keeping it replenished improves your health drastically. By drinking more water each day, you're flushing out your body, getting rid of toxins that can buildup.
Water keeps your kidneys running smooth, and cleans out debris and waste from your cells. Fat cells included! All of this allows your body to function more efficiently.
Water also stimulates and improves your digestive system as well. It speeds up your digestion and removes a lot of the waste, or undigested food, before it has a chance to be converted into fat for storage on your body.
Water curbs your hunger. Yes, it's true. If you drink enough water, you don't get those hunger pangs nearly as often especially cold water. Fill your stomach up with cold water, and it gets so busy warming up the water and feeling full that you won't be hungry.
Water also speeds up your metabolism. The faster your metabolism, the faster you lose weight, pure and simple.
You see, water is to your body what oil is to your car. Your car can't run without oil and your body can't run without water. And, the more water you drink, the better and more efficiently your body functions. You'll notice the effects quickly, too. As you become hydrated, you'll notice yourself eating less. You'll be feeling better, losing weight, and you'll have more energy. As you find yourself with more energy, you will find yourself wanting to be more active - adding to your overall health and weight loss.
On average, a person should drink about one-half of their body weight in ounces of water each day. So, if you weigh 200-pounds you'd drink 100-ounces of water. That's about 3-liters. That might sound like a lot of water, but you can get used to it. And you can disguise the water too, if you like. I, myself, am addicted to the single serving "Crystal Light" water flavor packets. They come in a bunch of assorted flavors. Each packet is perfect for a 16.9 oz. bottle of water, the standard size. They're sugar free and contain no fat and they taste great. I used to be a Mountain Dew drinker. Easily, I'd drink at least 64 oz. a day. But now, I drink all my water with Crystal Light. It's cheaper and I've lost weight.
Besides, if you're thinking that you can't drink that much water, remember, you'll be replacing water with food a lot of the time. It's a fact that the body needs much more water than food. BUT, most people eat much more food and take little water.
Here's a fun fact for you: Did you know that if you ever feel "thirst" that you are, to a point, dehydrated. When a person is adequately hydrated, they will never feel "thirst."Another fact you may not have known, refined sugar (like that in soda) slows your metabolism down.
To lose weight, you simply MUST increase your metabolism. Again, water is one of the best ways to do that. So drink your water. With zero side-effects, it's the best weight loss drug in existence.

These Critical Mindset considerations for your diet program include:
1) Knowing what you want to achieve with your diet program. You need to begin with the end in mind, regardless of whether it is to lose 10 pounds, reduce your waistline by 3 inches or to develop 6 pack abs. In fact, you might want to write this goal down on paper and post it where you will see it every day.
2) Selecting an appropriate diet and nutrition plan to adopt and stick with it. It is pointless to switch from one diet to another, while never really getting any results with any given one. Diets should generally show you some positive results in anywhere from 2 weeks and beyond. Don't be fooled by minor decreases in weight during the first 3 to 5 days because it could be due to water loss and other factors.
3) Setting out a plan to follow through the diet plan. Frequently, diets are undertaken together with some sort of exercise plan. Work out the frequency and duration of such exercise sessions and follow through with both the diet as well as the exercise plans.
4) Allowing small steps initially. If you encounter difficulties in making big changes to your diet, simply make small but gradual changes to your diet and nutrition plan that gravitate toward your ideal diet. As long as you make small positive incremental changes, that's progress. In other words, you may not need to cut down on fries 100% at one go. If you cut down say 1/3 the amount each time or each day, you should be able to reduce that food type in a fair amount of time. Of course, do remember to keep your progress going ahead consistently and set a time frame to reach your ideal diet.
5) Visualizing success. One of the key mindsets to adopt is to be able to visualize success daily. In your mind's eye, "see" the results you want or imagine the way you will look and feel. Then, get cracking on your diet and exercise program.
6) Correcting your course as you go along. Sometimes, when we embark on a diet program, we might slip. We may eat just way too much for a particular meal, or lose control and order that milkshake when we should have chosen herbal tea to go with our lunch. If you slip, acknowledge it, forgive yourself and move along. Simply remember that you have slipped and that you intend to stay on course for the following meals and in the following days.

The Purpose of Losing Body Weight
In addition to the fact that losing body weight improves the physical appearance of an individual, health and quality of life is also enhanced. Also, the tendencies of developing serious heart disease, diabetes and joint problems are apparently far from reality if the excess body weight is reduced as required. As a result, the individual feels better and enjoy weight-associated stress-free life.
Reasons Most Diets Fail
Fashionable or Trendy diets also known as Fad diets such as Cabbage Soup and Grapefruit Diets do not actually help in reducing weight.
They promote a restricted eating plan that is unhealthy and/or lack in sufficient calories and do create negative biological effects within the body system. If the daily caloric intake is reduced too much due to Starvation diets, the body will hold onto fat and extra body mass by lowering the body’s rate of metabolism and promoting starvation defense mechanisms.
Moreover, Fad diets that limit food choices to only one or two food groups are also unhealthy. This is because such diets eventually fail as they cannot furnish the body with adequate amounts of nutrients, minerals, and fats that are needed to operate and function properly. Once the body runs out of the stored elements, it will trigger a craving that will encourage an individual to eat foods that have the nutrients that it needs. This craving, unfortunately, will kill your diet as the once-started eating of restricted foods is difficult to stop.
Such trend of starvation can lead to heart problems and possibly an eating disorder. These diets should be taken with caution and professional medical opinion be sought.
Non-balanced diets, in addition to nutritional concerns that fad diets pose, also impact the way a person feels, and the ability to function normally. With too few calories, and too few nutrients, moods will swing to the dark side, and people will not want to be around you. This could negatively impact an individual’s ability to function at work, to socialize with others, or to take part in your family’s activities.
Diet pills, even if taken as recommended, contain a great a lot of caffeine that can cause the feeling of being jittery, hyperactive, and shaky. If the pills are taken in quantities or at frequencies greater than what is recommended, it has been proven that other ingredients within diet pills are harmful to the body health
Dieters, due to the anxiety of losing weight, quickly, tend to take more diet pills than recommended thinking that the effect will be more rapid. This actually is not the case, and with some over-the- counter diet pills, this practice could have serious effects on a person’s health, lead to liver or kidney failure, and even in some situations lead to death.
The ingredients of diet pills may also interact with the prescription drugs being taken leading to serious health consequences. Therefore, the warning label of prescription drug being currently used should be consulted and the doctor be asked if such can be safely taken with other weight loss-related medications.
Ways to Lose Body Weight without Dieting
By adopting each or a combination of these simple methods, the body weight can be lost in a matter of days, without going on a "diet"
Daily Intake of Breakfast: Many people who have lost weight and kept it off are in the habit of eating breakfast every day. Studies show that people who eat breakfast have lower BMIs (Body mass Indices) than breakfast-skippers and perform better, whether at school or in the boardroom. For a quick and nutritious start for a day, a bowl of whole-grain spiced with fruit and dairy with low fat content is perfect
By Closing the Kitchen at Night: This habit helps in preventing an individual from eating late-night munchies. With the teeth well-brushed after dinner, overeating is prevented once this habit is established
Wise Choice of Liquid Calories: Sweetened drinks increases body calories but don't reduce hunger like solid foods do. Water, sparkling water with citrus, skim or low-fat milk, or small portions of 100% fruit juice will do well for satisfying thirst. A glass of nutritious and low-calorie vegetable juice will do for holding over when hungry between meals.
Eat More Produce: By eating lots of low-calorie food, high-volume fruits and vegetables crowds out other foods that are higher in fat and calories and eliminate the choice of meat as source of protein. By stocking the kitchen with plenty of fruits and vegetables, a serving of diet should be enriched with vitamins, minerals, and fiber at every meal
Use of Grains as Supplement: Substituting whole grains for refined grains like white bread, and cakes add the much-needed fiber and fill up faster so as to eat a reasonable portion. Whole-wheat breads and pastas, brown rice, bran flakes, popcorn, and whole-rye crackers are a good choice
Have Protein at Every Meal and Snack: Adding a source of lean or low-fat protein to each meal and snack will help keep you feeling full longer so overeating is not likely. Low-fat yogurt, some nuts, peanut butter, eggs, beans, or lean meats are appropriate. Experts also recommend eating small, frequent meals and snacks (every 3-4 hours), to keep your blood sugar levels steady and avoid overindulging.
Controlling the Environment: By staying away from all-you-can-eat restaurants, the temptation of overeating can be avoided. Another simple strategy to help cut calories is to control your environment i.e. everything from stocking your kitchen with lots of healthy options to choosing the right restaurants. Eating healthy and well-selected snacks during parties prevents starving before leaving.
Taking a Few More Steps Each Day: Use a pedometer (to know the distance covered by walking) and gradually add more steps until you reach 10,000m per day. By being more active throughout the day i.e. pace while you talk on the phone, take the dog out for an extra walk, and march in place during television commercials counts a lot in maintaining or lose body weight in days. Having a pedometer serves as a constant motivator and reminder.
Reduce Portions being served: The amount of food that is often served both in restaurants and at home is at times much more than needed. Reducing portions by 10%-20% ensures considerable weight loss. Measuring cups should be used to measure out the required amount of foodstuff before preparing meals so as to avoid leftovers.
